July 20, 1933: During his first solo flight around the world, Wiley Post landed his Lockheed 5C Vega, NR105W, at Flat, Alaska. Post was exhausted yet unharmed, but the Winnie Mae suffered damages to its propeller and right wheel strut after the aircraft nosed over during the landing. A replacement propeller was swiftly transferred from Fairbanks to Flat and Post was able to continue his journey the next day after repairs were finished. Wiley Post, on this journey, became the first person to have flown a solo flight around the world. Setting the record on July 22, 1933, clocking in at 7 days 18 hours 19 minutes.
